Fields of application

- to support general hygienic measures as part of the prophylaxis of skin fungal infections
Methods of application/Application notes
Skin antiseptic before injections, puncturing, excisions etc.:
Spray kodan® Tinktur forte on the area of skin affected or rub off with a soaked pad and observe the application time. When using kodan® Tinktur forte before glucose testings (e.g. Haemogluco sticks), allow preparation to dry well to avoid any damage.
Before joint puncture and pre-surgical skin antiseptic:
- Shaving of the area of skin affected, if required.
- Washing of the patient or the area of skin affected (e.g. with esemtan® or octenisan® washing lotion) if possible one hour before skin disinfection.
- Applying kodan® Tinktur forte with a pad or spray it.
- If incision foilsare used, kodan® Tinktur forte must be sufficiently dry before adhering the foil to avoid damaging the adherence.
- Do not apply thermocautery before the skin areas disinfected with kodan® Tinktur forte are completely dry.
Wound and suture care
For wound and suture care, kodan® Tinktur forte can be applied with a sterile pad or directly sprayedfrom a suitable bottle. It must be taken care that excessive preparation amounts can drain or be dabbed off. Preferably, sutures are dabbedoff with a soaked pad.
Hygienic hand disinfection
During hand disinfection, the hands should remain well moistened for the whole application time.

- Before injections and blood collections: 15 sec.
- Before joint punctures: 60 sec.
- For pre- and post-surgical skin disinfection: 60 sec.
Apply several times to skin areas near skull and forehead that are rich in sebum glands before surgical interventions: 10min.
Hygienic hand disinfection (according to VAH-/DGHM certificate): 3 ml kodan® Tinktur forte colour-less undiluted– 30 sec.
MRSA 30 sec.
Viruses:
limited virucidal* (incl. HBV, HIV, HCV, Herpes simplex viruses): 30 sec.
Rota virus: 30 sec.
Adenovirus: 10 min.
