The typical colour of the cell cores, mainly purple-red, based on the molecular interaction between eosin and a Azur B - DNA complex.
The two colourants form thecomplex. The colour intensity depends on the Azur B content and the ratio between Azur B and Eosin G.
The colouring result can be affectedby various factors as the pH value of the solution and the buffer solution, the buffer substances, staining time and fixation.
